Sherry and Sam’s hinterland wedding was absolutely incredible – from the people to the suppliers to the details to the location all the way to the yummy vegan donuts. However the highlight for me was a moment I didn’t capture.
I went to find Sherry at about 7.30pm to tell her that the first dance was approaching. She was in a back room having a quiet moment and when I walked in we started talking about the day and her new husband. She told me how much she loves Sam and how nothing else in the world really matters because they loved each other. She had a little cry and we had a huge lemmon squeeze.
That moment there.
That is why I love this job and why I don’t think I could ever stop shooting weddings no matter how exhausting and intense they can get. Those little moments you share with people during such an emotional day – raw and honest and human. I’m with the couple for almost the entire wedding and it’s not only my job to capture it but to listen and observe and care and be a small part of the love, just for a day.
How bloody special is that?
