My first wedding at Mavis’s Kitchen and Cabins and I hope it’s the first of many. This location was absolutely amazing for a wedding and Cassie and Mick aced both the minor and major details of their day.
I drove down from Brisbane and arrived at the farmhouse late morning. I spent the next few hours hanging out with Cassie, her family and her two closest friends, taking photos of the beautiful surroundings and everyone casually busying themselves with the flowers, lunch, makeup, hair and rehearsing their speeches. The farmhouse had so much character. It creaked with age and it had life growing in, around and through it. The air was crisp and fresh and as bodies readied themselves for the ceremony the day never felt crowded or rushed. It really did set the scene for Cassie and Mick’s story. Simple, relaxed and graceful.
This wedding was also the first time I photographed a “first look” (where the bride and groom meet before the ceremony). We had time to take some photos and I LOVED this experience. They were both so happy and excited to see each other and there was no one else around except myself photographing these emotions. So for a photographer, it was dreamy. I feel so blessed doing what I do, especially during moments like this.
Just before 3 we headed up the road to a hill where Cassie and Mick would be married. The guests arrived in a bus driven by Mick’s father, the musician strummed his guitar, friend’s children played in the grass and Mt Warning set the backdrop. It was an incredibly romantic ceremony with their closest family and friends.
Their formal photoshoot was probably the quickest photoshoot I have ever done. We took photos on the hill where they were married and then we drove back to the reception stopping at a peaceful, trickling creek on the way. Cassie and Mick wanted to be with their guests.
Ahh I could go on about this wedding. And it will most definitely be one of those weddings I go on and on about to my friends. The day was filled with peace and laughter, quiona, honey and party pies, lawn games, rainbows and sunsets, close family and the best of friends, Cassie and Mick.
